A derogatory term used by unionists to refer to Catholics in the North of Ireland/The Six Counties. Can also be used by Rangers FC supporters/eejit loyalists in the North to refer to any Irish person/Celtic supporter they see. It is derived from the Irish name Tadhg, considered to be "the man on the street" (i.e. the average Irish person you would meet anywhere), and it is generally considered to be highly offensive, similar to the N word for black people. Used by some republicans to broadcast who they are and generally p*ss off loyalists.
