Yerra
Heard in Kerry, Cork and Tipperary
Used at the start of every sentence. As you move northwards "Yerrah" becomes "Erra" until it becomes "Arra" north of Clare.
"Yerra, 'twas hard (cold) today so I brought me flashk of tay with me to get a gabhal of turf from de bog, but I forgot the feckin' ponny (enamel cup) to put it in! Ah pants!" A Kerryman Joke (or two) What would the Kerry section be without a couple of cringeworthy Kerryman jokes... What do they call 'Pop Idol' in Kerry? Diddly Idol! Did you hear about the Kerryman who thought he was gay? He preferred hurling to football!
Well now, it was rather chilly today so I brought my receptacle of infusion to harvest a spadeful of peat from the mire, but alas I forgot the tin vessel to contain it. Oh botheration!
