About
Yonks ago, the users of slang.ie started sending in the slang they heard around them: in the yard, down the pub, at the kitchen table. Folk from every corner of the country chipped in, and the pile grew and grew.
We’ve finally tidied the whole lot into a proper dictionary, and given every entry a Posh English translation for anyone whose mammy never let them talk like that.
The best of it is in the book, For Focal Sake!. Grand for a present, or for settling a row about what a word really means.
Why ‘For Focal Sake’? Focal is the Irish for ‘word’, so it’s for the sake of words… and it sounds like something your nan would give out to you for.
Thanks a million to everyone who sent one in. Ye’re legends, the lot of ye.
